Hello wonderful Internet world, my name is Joshua Johnson. I am an Early Childhood Educator (SK - Level II) currently employed in a licensed Early Learning Centre, Child Passenger Safety Technician, and Parenting Mentor with Allana Robinson Family Services.
At the young age of 6 years old, I told my sister that I was going to become a ninja when I grew up. My hopes and dreams were obviously shattered when I realized that one could not just "become a ninja" and somehow turn that into a profession in the 20th or 21st century. So I did the next best thing and made the decision to play pretend for a living. With a current focus in child development, play advocacy and outdoor education, I am monkeying up into the tallest of trees, exploring the deep, dark caves of our forest forts, and unlearning (so I can relearn) much of my beliefs and knowledge surrounding early education and the wondrous mind of a child.
I have been working in child-related fields for over 10 years now starting off as an after-school babysitter and slowly working my way into very dedicated Early Education fields. My current employment is inside of a preschool room at a licensed daycare and future sidekick at a Forest Preschool. Prior to this, I was a male nanny to three wonderful children, took formal education at both the University of Regina and Portage College to further this journey in Early Ed, and managed a summer day camp
program for 3 consecutive years in row with 4 counselors working underneath me.
When I'm not immersed in this wonderful world of forest forts, jam cookies, and finger painting, you might find me geeking out with car seats as a co-founder of SaskSeats - Child Passenger Safety, enjoying nature, or climbing up really high rock walls at Grip It.
